Culture
The Vallée de Mai's UNESCO-listed palm forest and the story of the Coco de Mer.
Five nights on Mahé and Praslin, built around a glass-bottom boat, a beach for every mood and a few tortoises older than anyone in the group.
Seychelles is easier with children than most island destinations. The water is calm, the beaches are shallow and the best activities, from a reef cruise to a walk among giant tortoises, are the kind that children remember for years. This is one of the Seychelles itineraries we've planned for a family before, five nights, six days across Mahé and Praslin, built for two adults and two children (7 and 10 years) travelling together.
It's shared here to show what a family trip through Seychelles could look like. A version built around your own family's size, pace and dates would look a little different, and that's the point.
Why This Trip
The full-day reef safari does most of the work on this trip. A glass-bottom boat, feeding tropical fish from the boat, snorkelling off Moyenne Island and a barbecue lunch all fit into one day, and children of seven and ten are fully occupied from start to finish.
Praslin adds the slower half. Curieuse Island's tortoises can be walked among, and the Vallée de Mai is shaded enough to manage even in warm weather, with a nut that can weigh up to 25 kg to look for along the way. If you asked us: do the reef safari early in the trip, while there is still energy for a full day on the water, and save Anse Lazio for the last day, when a beach afternoon is all anyone wants.
per adult and ₹1,52,400 per child, based on 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 10 years) travelling together, including international airfare and inter-island ferry
