This is one of the Bali itineraries we've planned for a couple before , eight nights, nine days across Ubud, Gili Trawangan and Seminyak, built for two adults travelling together. It's shared here to show what a couples' trip through Bali could look like. A version built around your own dates and pace would look a little different , and that's the point.

August sits in Bali's dry season, which makes both the Mt. Batur sunrise trek and the speedboat crossing to Gili Trawangan are more predictable , clear skies at 2am, and calmer water on the way over.

Gili Trawangan drops the pace entirely , no cars, no motorbikes, just cidomo horse carts and a free day built in for diving or simply doing nothing. The trip picks back up with Nusa Penida's cliffs and Uluwatu's sunset Kecak Dance before closing.

If you asked us: Mt. Batur trek is worth the 2am start. Watching the sunrise from the summit is one of the few things in Bali that photographs exactly as well as it feels.

    Bali Arrival

    A private transfer to the hotel in Ubud, with the evening left free.

  2. Day 2

    Ubud Tour

    An ATV ride, Tegenungan Waterfall, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, Taman Ayun Temple, and a full day at Cretya Ubud's infinity pools.

  3. Day 3

    Mt. Batur Sunrise Trek

    A 2am departure for the climb up Mt. Batur, back by mid-morning, with the rest of the day free and a vehicle at the couple's disposal.

  4. Day 4

    Gili Island Arrival

    A speedboat transfers to Gili Trawangan, with a cidomo horse cart carrying the couple to the hotel.

  5. Day 5

    Gili Island at Leisure

    A free day on the island , scuba diving is easy to add, or the day can stay entirely unplanned.

  6. Day 6

    Bali Return, Uluwatu Temple

    A return crossing to the mainland, then the Uluwatu Temple tour with its sunset Kecak Dance.

  7. Day 7

    Nusa Penida Day Tour

    A full-day speedboat tour to Nusa Penida, taking in Kelingking Cliff, Broken Beach, Angel Billabong and Crystal Bay.

  8. Day 8

    Tanah Lot Temple

    A sunset visit to Tanah Lot, the sea temple set on a black-stone outcrop just off the coast.

  9. Day 9

    Departure

    A transfer to the airport for the flight home.
