Netherlands & Belgium

Off the Beaten Path: Amsterdam and Brussels

Amsterdam and Brussels open a sixteen-night run that ends in Rome, by way of Tomorrowland and the Dolomites.

Most Netherlands and Belgium itineraries stay in the Netherlands and Belgium. This one uses both as a three-night opening act, timed around the Tomorrowland festival in Brussels, before the route swings entirely into Italy for the following two weeks.

This is one of the itineraries we've planned for a group of friends before , 16 nights, 17 days, opening with Amsterdam and Brussels before continuing through Milan, the Dolomites, Florence, Sorrento and Rome, built for 6 adults travelling together. It's shared here to show what a longer, festival-anchored multi-country route could look like. A version built around your own dates and group size would look a little different , and that's the point.

Why Open a Europe Trip with Amsterdam and Brussels

Why Open a Europe Trip with Amsterdam and Brussels

A canal cruise and a countryside day trip through Zaanse Schans, Edam, Volendam and Marken cover the essential Netherlands in under 48 hours, timed to land the group in Brussels just as Tomorrowland opens. From there, the itinerary drops the Netherlands and Belgium entirely and runs the length of Italy , Milan, a self-drive through the Dolomites, Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast and Rome.

It's an unusual pairing precisely because most people treat a festival trip and a country-hopping Italy trip as two separate holidays. Here they're one continuous seventeen days, with a music festival as the hinge between them.

If you asked us: keep the Amsterdam-and-Brussels opening exactly as short as it is here. It works as a prelude, not as a destination the group lingers in , Italy is where most of the trip's touring time is spent.
