Culture
Baku's Old City and Nizami Square, and Istanbul's Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia.
Mud volcanoes and flame towers before the fairy chimneys, on a route almost no one else runs.
Most Turkey itineraries stay inside Turkey. This one doesn't , it opens with five nights in Baku, Azerbaijan, before crossing into Cappadocia and Istanbul for the second half of the trip.
This is one of the itineraries we've planned for a family before , 10 nights, 11 days, with five nights in Baku, followed by Cappadocia and Istanbul in Turkey, built for 5 adults and 3 children travelling together. It's shared here to show what a two-country route through the Caucasus and Turkey could look like. A version built around your own dates and pace would look a little different , and that's the point.
Why This Trip
Baku and Turkey sit close enough on the map that a direct flight makes the pairing practical, but few itineraries actually combine them. This route uses Baku's five nights for the Old City, the Absheron peninsula's fire sites, Gobustan's mud volcanoes, the Candy Cane Mountains, and a modern city tour past the Flame Towers, before the trip shifts into Cappadocia's rock valleys and Istanbul's Old City.
The two halves don't resemble each other much, which is exactly the appeal , a family or small group gets an unfamiliar capital first, then the more established Turkey highlights second, rather than starting with what's already expected.
If you asked us: keep the Candy Cane Mountains half-day exactly that, a half day. It's a striking landscape, not one that needs a full day around it.
per adult and ₹1,74,775 per child, based on 5 adults and 3 children travelling together, including international airfare and Baku and Turkey visas.
