Family Trip to Oman

Four nights that cover Muscat's mosque and souq, Nizwa's fort, and Sur's turquoise sinkhole, built for a family with one six-year-old.

Oman doesn't need a long trip to make an impression. Four nights is enough to cover the essentials. A fort, a souq, a sinkhole, and a coastal drive that keeps a six-year-old looking out the window instead of at a screen.

This is one of the Oman itineraries we've planned for a family before ; four nights, five days across Muscat, Nizwa and Sur, built for three adults and one child (6 years) travelling together. It's shared here to show what a short family trip through Oman could look like. A version built around your own family's size, pace, and dates would look a little different ; and that's the point.

Why Travel to Oman with Your Family

A day at leisure on arrival gives the family time to settle in before the sightseeing starts. The Muscat city tour that follows is unhurried by design ; the Grand Mosque, Bait Al Zubair Museum, Al Alam Palace and Mutrah Souq all fit into a single morning, back at the hotel by 1pm.

The Nizwa day trip and the Sur coastal excursion are the two days that tend to stay with a family longest ; Nizwa Fort's round tower and silver souq on one, and Wadi Shab's turquoise pools and the Bimmah Sinkhole's blue-green water on the other. If you asked us: build in the swim stop at Wadi Shab, even for a six-year-old who'd rather wade than hike.

Ready When You Are

Plan Your Family Trip to Oman

A fort's round tower, a souq that smells of frankincense before you see it, a sinkhole the colour of blue-green glass ; four nights is enough for Oman to make its case to a family with young kids in tow.

This is one of the itineraries we've built for a family travelling together before, shared here to show what the trip could look like. A version built for your own family ; size, pace, and dates ; would look a little different.
