Cape Town's Bo-Kaap district and the Castle of Good Hope, seen on the half-day city tour.
Ten nights across Sun City, Kruger and the Cape, built for a family of eight spanning three generations.
South Africa gives a family with kids of very different ages the same trip in different doses , Sun City's water park for the younger ones, twice-daily game drives in Kruger for everyone, and a Cape Town finish that has something for the teenagers too.
This is one of the South Africa itineraries we've planned for a family before , ten nights, eleven days across Sun City, Kruger National Park, Knysna and Cape Town, built for four adults and four children travelling together. It's shared here to show what a family trip through South Africa could look like. A version built around your own family's size, pace and dates would look a little different , and that's the point.
Why This Trip
Four children aged five to thirteen need a trip that doesn't ask them all to enjoy the same thing at the same pace. Sun City opens the trip with the Valley of Waves and a resort built for exactly this kind of family. Three nights at a private Kruger lodge follow, with a game drive scheduled morning and afternoon each day , enough repetition that even the youngest starts recognising which animal is which.
The back half of the trip slows down on purpose: a scenic transfer into the Garden Route, an Oudtshoorn day with ostrich farms and limestone caves, and four nights in Cape Town closing on Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula. If you asked us: book the Kruger lodge with both a morning and evening drive included , the light is better for photos, and it splits a long day into two manageable ones for younger travellers.
per adult, based on 4 adults and 4 children (ages 5–13) travelling together, including international and internal airfare
