This is one of the Portugal itineraries we've planned for a group of friends before , eight nights, nine days across Lisbon, Faro and the Algarve, and Porto, built for three adults travelling together. It's shared here to show what a friends' trip through Portugal could look like. A version built around your own group's size, pace and dates would look a little different , and that's the point.

Three nights in Lisbon before anyone moves on means the group gets a proper look at the city , a sunset sail, a full Sintra day, and a private Tuk Tuk tour through Alfama's back streets, rather than the usual one rushed day.

The Algarve gets two nights of its own, with a full day on the coast at Benagil Cave, Marinha Beach and Carvoeiro, and Porto closes the trip with a private Douro Valley tour , vineyards and a long lunch, no itinerary padding required.

Portugal Trip Itinerary

  1. Day 1 (2 May)

    Lisbon Arrival , Sunset Sailing Tour

    Check-in at Altis Prime Hotel, then a small-group Sunset Sailing Tour along the Tagus in the late afternoon, wine and city views included.

  2. Day 2 (3 May)

    Sintra, Pena Palace & Cabo da Roca

    A full-day guided tour covering Sintra's Pena Palace, the cliffs at Cabo da Roca , continental Europe's westernmost point , and the coastal town of Cascais.

  3. Day 3 (4 May)

    Lisbon Tuk Tuk Tour

    A relaxed morning, then a private Eco Tuk Tuk tour through Lisbon's historic neighbourhoods and viewpoints in the late afternoon, with the evening free.

  4. Day 4 (5 May)

    Lisbon to Faro

    A train south to Faro and check-in for a two-night stay, with the evening free to explore Faro's old town.

  5. Day 5 (6 May)

    Algarve Coast Tour

    A full-day guided tour along the Algarve coast , the Benagil Sea Cave, the cliffs and turquoise water of Marinha Beach, and the village of Carvoeiro.

  6. Day 6 (7 May)

    Faro to Porto

    A train north to Porto and check-in at Porto Palácio Hotel by The Editory, with the evening free at leisure.

  7. Day 7 (8 May)

    Douro Valley, Full Day

    A private full-day tour through the Douro Valley's terraced vineyards, with river views throughout and time built in to slow down.

  8. Day 8 (9 May)

    Porto Tuk Tuk Tour

    A free morning, then a Tuk Tuk tour covering Clérigos Tower, the riverside district, and the city's panoramic viewpoints.

  9. Day 9 (10 May)

    Departure , Onward to Spain

    This particular trip continued on to Spain from here. A Portugal-only version closes with a transfer to Porto Airport for the flight home.
