Chichen Itza's Mayan pyramid and Valladolid's colonial Magical Town streets.
A 6-night Mexico family vacation on the Cancun and Riviera Maya coast.
Six nights on the Caribbean coast, with a submarine, a dolphin swim and a pyramid for the children to climb up to look at. The Cancun and Riviera Maya coast is one of the easiest places in Mexico to take a family. One hotel base is enough, the water is warm and shallow, and the best days out are the ones that children of any age can join.
This is one of the Mexico itineraries we've planned for a family before, six nights, seven days on the Cancun and Riviera Maya coast, built for two adults and two children (8 and 12 years) travelling together. It's shared here to show what a family trip through Mexico could look like. A version built around your own family's size, pace and dates would look a little different, and that's the point.
Why This Trip
December is dry, warm and the Caribbean is calm, which makes it a good window for the snorkelling, the Cozumel ferry and the dolphin swim. The trip uses a single hotel for all six nights, so there is no packing and unpacking between days. Two days stand out. The Atlantis Submarine in Cozumel lets a family see the reef without getting wet, which is useful for a child who is not yet a confident swimmer.
The dolphin swim at Delphinus Xcaret includes a briefing in English and a choice of 30 or 45 minutes with the dolphins. If you asked us: do Chichen Itza in the middle of the trip and keep the next day slow. It is a long, hot day for an eight-year-old, and the cenote swim and the colourful streets of Valladolid are what make it fun rather than tiring.
per adult and ₹1,48,900 per child, based on 2 adults and 2 children (8 and 12 years) travelling together, including international airfare

A day on the water with turtles, coral reefs, the Musa underwater museum and a shipwreck. All snorkelling equipment and round-trip transfers are included, and the tour suits first-time snorkellers.
