Off the Beaten Path in France

Six nights that start on the French Riviera, long before the Eiffel Tower comes into view.

6 Nights / 7 DaysDuration

Most first France trips land in Paris and never leave it. This one flips the order , Nice first, for three days along the Riviera coastline, and Paris after, so the Eiffel Tower arrives as the second half of the story instead of the whole of it.

This is one of the France itineraries we've planned for a family before , 6 nights, 7 days across Nice and Paris, built for 4 adults and 1 child (3 years) travelling together. It's shared here to show what a Riviera-first route through France could look like. A version built around your own family's size, pace, and dates would look a little different , and that's the point.

Why Travel to France with Your Family, Riviera First

Why Travel to France with Your Family, Riviera First

Nice sits within reach of Monaco, Eze and the whole Cote d'Azur coast, and starting the trip there instead of in Paris changes its shape entirely. Mornings move slower, apartment-style stays give a young family room to spread out, and the sightseeing runs half-day rather than full , Eze's perfume workshops and hilltop village one morning, Cannes' Croisette and Saint-Paul-de-Vence the next.

Paris still gets its due in the second half , the Eiffel Tower's second floor, a Seine cruise, a private city tour with the Louvre , but by the time the family arrives, they've already seen a side of France most Paris-only trips skip entirely.

If you asked us: this order works better than the reverse. Riviera days are naturally slower and suit a family adjusting to the time difference; Paris, with more to see and do, sits better at the end when everyone has found their rhythm.

Eze's hilltop lanes, Cannes' Croisette, Saint-Paul-de-Vence's artist quarter, and Paris waiting at the end of it , this route gives a family the Riviera most France trips never make time for.
