Most Kenya safaris stay inside Kenya. This one crosses the Isebania border into Tanzania on day five, swaps the Mara's plains for the Serengeti's, and closes on three nights on Zanzibar's beaches , a two-country safari and a beach finish in a single trip.

This is one of the Kenya itineraries we've planned for a group of friends before , nine nights, ten days across the Masai Mara, the Serengeti and Zanzibar, built for three adults travelling together. It's shared here to show what a two-country route beyond Kenya could look like. A version built around your own dates and pace would look a little different , and that's the point.

Three nights in the Mara open the trip with a shared game drive and two full days of circuits, before an overland border crossing at Isebania , a proper land crossing, with a Tanzanian driver-guide waiting on the other side and a game drive built into the drive itself.

The Serengeti gets two full days before a flight out of the Seronera airstrip straight to Zanzibar, where two beach days close out a trip that's spent most of its time on game drives. If you asked us: the overland border crossing is worth doing once , it's a different way to feel the scale of East Africa than flying over it.
