Nizwa Fort and Souq, and a photo stop at the Royal Opera House.
Seven nights that hand the family the wheel for an overnight desert camp and a night at the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve.
Most Oman itineraries hand sightseeing over to a driver-guide and keep the group in one vehicle. This one hands two families their own 4WDs for a day, self-driving out to a desert camp for the night, and closes with an overnight stay at Ras Al Jinz ; a turtle nesting reserve most first-time itineraries never reach.
This is one of the Oman itineraries we've planned for a family group before ; seven nights, eight days across Muscat, Wahiba Sands and Jabal Akhdar, built for six adults and four children (ages 7, 8 and 11) travelling together. It's shared here to show what a deeper, more independent route through Oman could look like. A version built around your own group's size, pace, and dates would look a little different ; and that's the point.
Why This Trip
Handing over two 4WDs for the Wahiba Sands leg changes the day entirely ; the family drives itself to Wadi Bani Khalid, then on to a desert camp for an overnight stay, with the dune drive and sunset entirely on its own schedule rather than a guide's.
Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve's luxury eco tents sit on a stretch of coast most Oman itineraries skip in favour of Sur's more accessible sights ; closed-off, quiet, and timed for a chance at watching green turtles nest after dark. If you asked us: this is the kind of detour worth the extra night on its own.
per adult and ₹55,650 per child, based on 6 adults and 4 children travelling together, excluding international airfare
