If Employee: latest updated 3-month Salary Bank Statement till date of submission, IT Returns Acknowledgement for latest 2 years, and latest pay slips (3 months)
If sponsored: Letter from the Sponsor, sponsor's financial documents (latest 3-month Bank Statement, 2 years IT Returns Acknowledgement), and sponsor ID copy
Document showing flight/cruise schedule to/from Japan (tickets from Bangalore, both inward and outward)
If divorced: Divorce decree
If family or friends are travelling from Bangalore together, they must submit their applications together

Important Notes
The Consulate General of Japan in Bengaluru will process visa applications only for current residents of Karnataka.
In some cases, applicants may be asked to submit extra documents in addition to those listed above; failure to submit them means the visa application cannot be processed further.
Passports issued outside Karnataka must provide residence proof such as valid rental/lease agreement plus old rental/lease agreement, sale deed, gas connection bills, Aadhaar card, or electricity bills.
